Colour
Medium Ruby red

Nose
With a classic Merlot nose with medium - smell intensity of primary aromas like; dark cherries, raspberries, red currant, jammy plum. Secondary aromas like; fresh fallen leafs, mocha, vanilla, toasted cedar wood.
-
Palate
On the palate the secondary aromas are more present then there where on the nose. Also with soft and lovely delicate tannins, this Merlot gives it a appreciable and easy all-round drinking wine. The acidity is medium and therefor also very in balanced with the body and in balance with the wine. The slightly higher alcohol in this Merlot is noticeable and can be felt in the back of the palate. Also noticeable is a slight hint of spices. I don't find it irritating or upsetting . I think its gives it just that extra level of dept.

Finish
A medium not to complex finish with lots of fruit and secondary aromas.

Conclusion
This Australian Merlot is a good example that our Aussies know what they are doing. This isn't a complex Merlot that you need to age before consuming. No, its the opposite of that. This fresh and lovely Merlot is good to consume now and for someone who is starting out in drinking red wine or if you just love Merlot, this is a good and classic sipper, with just that extra kick because of the higher alcohol content. The price we paid for this Merlot is good but you can buy more complex merlot for that price, if you are looking for those.
