Nose
Complex but delicious nose with lots of dark cooked and jammy red fruits: cherry, raspberry, strawberry, ripe banana. A strong maturation of wood on the nose with creamy vanilla and caramel notes, rasins and figs, burned ceder and hints of chocolate. A slight hint of cinnamon and baking spices.
-
Palate
A full bodied red Rioja with mouth filling texture with smooth and well balanced acidity and velvit tannines. The maturation did this wine justice, you can tell the dark red fruits notes like: Ripe and jammy raspberry, dark cherry, jammy strawberry and plum, ripe bananas are all there. But there are also smooth notes of ceder, brown sugar, milky chocolate, lots of vanilla and caramel, creamy cappuccino, hints of cinnamon, hazelnuts and walnuts, rasins and figs.
-
Finish
Long finish with a complex aftertaste of dark fruits with spices and well balanced matured wood notes.

Conclusion
Its always a treat to drink a Gran Reserva. You can taste the maturation of the wood and bottle back in your glass. I could not believe the price was so low for this particular Gran Reserva. You will get quality wine but you will be paying less money for it. With this particular wine you defiantly need to decant it before consuming. This because it will open up more, this because its been closed up for so long and the texture, aromas and flavors of the wine will be closed as well. Its a good aging wine and will become better with time. If you can wait that long of course.
